Photos from the icefall

Here are some pics from the famous Khumbu Icefall, one of the most dangerous parts of the mountain.

my last photo from the icefall – we took a break to take our crampons off. Dad was very sick and was getting his oxygen changed. I was extremely exhausted and had a very sore throat and lungs

Yes thank you for sharing Bianca. Now I understand. You literally climbed an ice wall, and that section on the horizontal ladder looked awkward and scary. Phew, you are one strong woman. What was it like climbing in the dark at night, how much can you really see?

Oh me oh my. Stepping onto the ladder over the chasm is heart stopping. I would have fallen off from sheer terror!

    Great photos Bianca.
It must have been freezing. It is cold enough at home here today. You are so tough. Regain your strength again, you certainly used all you had. Take is slowly.

Hi, I'm Bianca!

Hi, I’m Bianca

I’m 18 years old from Melbourne, Australia and I am on a quest to become the youngest Australian to summit Mt Everest!

The expedition will take about 2 months, stretching from April to the start of June. I will be climbing alongside my father, Paul, who has already climbed Everest in 2007. My mother, Fiona has also summited Everest in 2006, and she will support us from base camp on the second half of the climb. I will try to post almost everyday of my expedition, to share the journey—the highs, the lows, and everything in between—as I take on the biggest challenge of my life!

If you have any questions about the climb, or the preparation, make sure to pop them in at the bottom of the post, and I’ll try to reply as fast as I can!

Xx
