back in Australia – Post Everest hike

June 15, 2025 By Bianca Adler 1 Comment

Woke up early and went to the Dandenongs (small mountain range near us in Australia). We know this place well as we trained here for 5 hours, pretty much every week for Everest and Manaslu (Sept 2024).

It felt great to be back hiking, even though my legs are much weaker and my breathing isn’t quite back to 100%. I lost quite a lot of muscle on Everest (due to malnutrition and overtraining) so I need to build back that strength.

It felt good to be relieved of the stress of training for Everest, and to just be able to train for myself and small, personal goals. Hoping to get running again and do a half marathon in a few months!

I hiked for about 2.5 hours, going at an easy pace

Thanks, Bianca, for all the informative Blogs. we are in awe of your determination to climb that rock and your maturity in deciding to turn back when you did. We are glad that you are back in Oz in one piece and hope that your future endeavors are not quite as stressful.

Hi, I'm Bianca!

Hi, I’m Bianca

I’m 18 years old from Melbourne, Australia and I am on a quest to become the youngest Australian to summit Mt Everest!

The expedition will take about 2 months, stretching from April to the start of June. I will be climbing alongside my father, Paul, who has already climbed Everest in 2007. My mother, Fiona has also summited Everest in 2006, and she will support us from base camp on the second half of the climb. I will try to post almost everyday of my expedition, to share the journey—the highs, the lows, and everything in between—as I take on the biggest challenge of my life!

If you have any questions about the climb, or the preparation, make sure to pop them in at the bottom of the post, and I’ll try to reply as fast as I can!

Xx
