This is it. The moment in time we have diligently been waiting for. Fiona has just stepped into the footprints of legends. I am hoping that Paul will get a 2nd chance to summit, once he is back to C-4 and corrected the 0-2 situation. (I know Paul, aka, MacGyver, will figure it out.)
Well done, you are both an inspiration to me to continue living all of my dreams and to conquer my personal Mt. Everest's with dignity, perseverance, courage and always an optimistic attitude!
Fi, descend safe, descend strong. Paul, whatever decision you make, you are a champ! MC

Fiona, we are so proud of you, your courage and determination is awesome. I can only try to understand the mixed emotions, to do such a brave thing without your climbing partner, Paul. As you know sometimes to retreat is the bravest thing to do and I am sure that Paul is just so proud of you for continuing on. I feel so happy and yet so sad that my wonderful son, and your great husband was not able to give you a big kiss on the top of Mt Everest. With so much love that I feel I am bursting, John

This is a bittersweet moment. Great job Paul. I am sure Fiona could not have enjoyed this moment without her dear partner. This is a sad twist that Paul and Fiona could not be together on top, especially when they have been together every step of the way. Perhaps this could be the harbinger of a plan to come back to the mountain together to do this again. We will be an eager audience again.

Firstly CONGRATULATIONS Fi!! Well done!! I'm so happy for you that you have reached the summit and your dream has come true. All the best for a very safe return back to Camp 4.
Paul, I'm sorry to hear about about your your set back. Hopefully there is another window of good weather very shortly so you can continue to make your summit attempt. Regardless, you can be very proud of how far you have made it already.
Mary, thank you for keeping us all up to date, and I hope you get some solid sleep soon.

Congratulations Fiona!! That is awesome. I felt all emmotional for you when I read the message. It is not like me to be emmotional but then again I am 40 weeks pregnant so the hormones may be working overtime. I feel for Paul (felt teary at the thought of him having to turn back) but I am sure he is wrapped that you made it and to make it as far as he did is also awesome. Is Paul going to make another attempt or is the window of opportunity closed? Anyway, I am so glad you are both safe and am looking forward to your return. Hopefully in the next day or so my baby will arrive so I will try to log on as soon as possible after the baby arrives to let you know the news.
Well done again!!

Just back from muddy MTB trip to read of your success. We were at the bottom of a rocky hill this morning and as usual the kids were having a moment of 'it's all too hard' and then I told them what you 2 were attempting today, it soon put them in there place. Thanks for the student inspiration!!!!
Once again well done mate, Mt Buffolo has got nothing on you now!!!
Safe decent. Nat

Congrtulations Fiona and Paul. Wow, you have both done so well. Your achievements are almost beyond my comprehension. I have been in contact with Nanna Hanton so much over the past few days, and we are both feeling a sense of relief at the moment. Stay safe and take great care coming down. Congratulations and have a good rest.
My daughter Julie rang me tonight to say that you made the Chanel 9 news tonight. Unfortunatley I was not at home to see it. All family members are logged in to your site and have been "climbing" with you!
Love Glenda.

Well done Fiona and Paul. An amazing journey for both of you.
During your preparation for your asault on Everest you will have realised that the most important muscle is the large one contained within the skull. You have both demonstrated that neither of you are are deficient here.
I wish you and the Sherpas a safe descent to home.

Congratulations to you both. Great that you can share the differing experiences together - to make one truly magnificent achievement. Saw that Fiona had reached the summit on the TV last night but it has been your detailed reflections that give an insight into the effort, determination and commitment that it requires to undertake such a feat. An inspiration to us all.
