Fi - you little ripper! (What more can we say?)
Paul - "kia kaha" is a Maori phrase meaning, roughly, "stay strong". (Sometimes translated as: "stay steadfast".) No doubt you'll be feeling desperately disappointed today, but "kia kaha" - God willing, there will be a weather window for another attempt.
We love you both, we're VERY glad you're both safe. Congrats!

Dear Paul and Fiona

Congratulations on your outstanding performance on reaching the summit, Fiona. Congratulations, too, to Paul for getting to the South Summit - what an achievement, and actually being brave enough to turn back is also to be lauded! Our South African chaps hope to summit from the south tomorrow morning (Wed. 24th May). My hubby, who was with them, turned back at Camp II!

Again, congratulations.

An amazing day - one neither of you, or those of us following you will ever forget. Fiona, a sensational effort in reaching the summit and Paul, it seems unjust. One senses, however, that the mountain hasn't seen the last of you!
